About Presbyopia

Presbyopia is a physiological dysregulation associated with the aging of the eye, resulting in a gradual deterioration of the ability to focus clearly on nearby objects.

Also known as age-related farsightedness, it affects most adults over the age of 40. A common sign of presbyopia is difficulty reading small print, resulting in the need to hold reading material at a distance. Other symptoms include headaches and eye strain. The degree of the problem varies from person to person.

Along with presbyopia, other types of refractive error may be present. This condition is similar to farsightedness or hyperopia, which begins in childhood and presents similar symptoms of blurred vision of objects nearby.

As shown in the picture, the image below illustrates the principle of taking presbyopia

Presbyopia is a typical age-related phenomenon.

It occurs as a result of age-related changes in the lens (decreased elasticity and increased stiffness) and ciliary muscle (decreased strength and ability to move the lens), which causes the right back of the eye to come into focus instead of the retina when looking at near objects.

It is a refractive error along with myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

How is presbyopia diagnosed?

Your ophthalmologist will examine your vision, determine how light is refracted, and perform a refraction test to determine your eye prescription.

Even if you do not have any of the common symptoms listed above, it is recommended that you have regular eye exams. By doing so, your doctor can track the onset of vision problems and eye diseases from their earliest stages.

Relationship between presbyopia dgree and aging

Generally, presbyopia begins in one's 40s and stops progressing around age 60;

if one feels that one's difficulty in seeing continues to increase after age 60, it may not be due to presbyopia but rather to the progression of cataracts.

While you wear reading glasses, we will tell you how to ease your presbyopia.

To avoid a sharp increase in prescriptions, patients should insist on wearing presbyopia glasses.

1. Selection of appropriate lenses

Higher degrees of presbyopia are not better. Choosing too high a prescription can weaken adjustment and accelerate the development of presbyopia. It can also put pressure on the eyes and cause eye problems.

2. Select lenses that are gentle to the eyes

Once you know the appropriate power, the next step is to choose lenses that are gentle to the eyes! The purpose is to reduce the burden on your eyes and body, delay the progression of presbyopia, and support a comfortable life. We recommend "anti-blue light lenses.

3. Choose a frame that is comfortable to wear

Once you know what lenses and eye prescription are right for you, the next step is to choose a frame. By choosing frames that are comfortable to wear, you can focus on your vision and avoid the stress of wearing presbyopes - Prime Particle can help you match your frames and lenses.
